On December 6, 2024, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Trang Campus, hosted a significant event led by Professor Dr. Suwat Tanyaros, President of the University; Assistant Professor Sitthichoke Chanyong, Vice President of Trang Campus; and Assistant Professor Dr. Prasert Thongnunui, Director of the Institute of Natural Resources and Environment. The university’s management team joined them in welcoming officials from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources.
Dr. Pinsak Suraswadi, Director-General of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, led the delegation along with Mrs. Sumana Kajonwattanakul, Director of the Marine and Coastal Resources Research and Development Institute, and Mr.Prajuab Mokaratana, Director of the 7th Marine and Coastal Resources Office (Trang), among other senior officials.
The visit included site inspections at the Rajamangala Trang Aquatic Animal Hospital and the Natural Resources and Environment Institute. The Research and Development Institute Conference Room, Trang Campus, hosted a collaborative meeting to formulate strategies for addressing critical marine resource challenges, marking the culmination of the event.
The primary focus of the discussions was on developing actionable solutions to urgent issues, particularly the alarming decline in dugong populations and the deteriorating condition of seagrass ecosystems. The collaboration aims to enhance marine resource management and conservation efforts to mitigate these pressing environmental concerns.
