The event was held at the Rajamangala Trang Aquatic Animal Hospital on December 13-15, 2024. It was supported by Assistant Professor Dr. Prasert Tongnunui, Director of Natural Resources and Environment Institute and staff from the institute. The lectures and hands-on sessions were conducted by experts from the Faculty of Veterinary Science and the Faculty of Science and Fisheries Technology, RUTS; the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources; and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University. The workshop aimed to enhance knowledge and skills such as stranding, rescue cases, procedures for necropsy, and genetic diversity focusing on this rare and endangered marine species and also the status of the seagrass ecosystem. The workshop activities included lectures and practical training sessions on physical examination/sample collection, X-ray, ultrasound techniques, and diagnosis of Dugong carcasses and live sea turtles. The program also featured an excursion trip to explore seagrass habitats around Koh Mook, Trang. The workshop participants included lecturers and students from 9 universities in Thailand and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia.
