At the Institute of Natural Resources and Environment, Assistant Professor Dr. Prasert Thongnunui, Director of the Institute, welcomed the executive team and personnel from the Education Department, Non-Formal and Informal Education Division of Songkhla Municipality, Songkhla Province, led by Mr. Danupol Sunthornrat, Deputy Mayor of Songkhla Municipality. The study visit took place at Trang Aquarium, Institute of Natural Resources and Environment, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Trang Campus, on October 7, 2024. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the management of the aquarium as a guideline for improving and revitalizing the Songkhla Aquarium.
The group was given a tour of various exhibits, including the freshwater and saltwater fish zones, the RMUTSV Trang Aquarium’s Information Technology Room, which showcases the way of life and conservation awareness of dugongs, the conservation animal of Trang Province, and sea turtles. They also visited the rotating exhibit room with virtual (3D Hologram) technology, which presents knowledge about rare marine biology, the large nursery tank (sea turtle pond), where large sea turtles are cared for by local and provincial agencies before being released back into the wild, and the animal performance zone, featuring a sea lion show. The sea lions, imported from South Africa, displayed skills such as ball balancing, hula hoop playing, and performing various balancing tricks, as well as carrying objects from the show pool.
